Many Fourth of July treats are designed to look like the American flag. But there are other patriotic symbols that can inspire you too.
If you want your sweets to really stand out, make these Eagle treats. Coat a marshmallow in some melted white chocolate. Then roll in a bowl of coconut flakes (to create the feathers), leaving one end of the marshmallow uncovered. Take the uncovered end to place on top of a chocolate cookie or wafer. Let the chocolate sit for a bit so everything holds together. For the beak, use a toothpick to make a hole in the side of the marshmallow, where the beak will go. Then take a whole cashew and place into the marshmallow. To finish off your Eagle, take a mini chocolate chip, mini M&M or some decorating gel to make the eye. Tip: Use Planter’s Cashew Halves ($2.99 – 9.25-11.5 oz) and make the beak look open.
Recreate the Statue of Liberty Torch with this Disney Family Fun Lady Liberty Cupcake recipe. We altered the recipe to use some of our items on sale. Take Joy Ice Cream Cones (99¢ – 1.75 oz) and fill with it with Whole Fruit Sorbet ($2.99 – Pint). Melt white chocolate and add food coloring to make it an fiery orange-red. Break up some pieces of graham crackers and dip them into the melted chocolate. Stick into the ice cream cone to create some red hot flames.
Use Jell-O Gelatin (4/$3) and make Blue and Red Jell-O shaped stars. serve with some Cool Whip Topping ($1.19 – 8 oz) with them for some white.
