Celebrate the season of spring with these special snacks and drinks to sip on.
Make refreshing Strawberry Sparklers to sip and enjoy on a beautiful day. You’ll need our ¢entsational $avings Florida Red Grapefruit ($1.29 – 2 pkg), 1 Lb Container Strawberries ($1.59 – Frugal Friday ONLY) and a bottle of sparkling cider. Peel, seed and section the grapefruit, and quarter the strawberries. Lay down layers of fruit, alternating between strawberries and grapefruit. Leave some room to pour sparkling cider into the glass. Serve with fresh mint or garnish rim with a piece of fruit.
Try adding 1 Cup of Tropicana Premium Orange Juice (2/$5 – 59 oz) and 1 Cup Canada Ginger Ale (99¢ – 1 Liter) to your Crystal Light Drink Mix ($1.99 -.06-2.17 oz) for a something a little different.
Presentation can make a huge impact, especially when it comes to food. If you’re having trouble having your kids eat their vegetables, make it fun for them. Design your plate in a way that will intrigue and please your crowd.
Sandwich together apple slices with Best Yet Peanut Butter ($1.29 – 18 oz) to make four “wings” and slice a banana lengthwise. Arrange on a plate to create a beautiful banana butterfly. We made our butterfly with chocolate chip eyes! Cut your fruits and veggies into the kids’ favorite character or animal. Get creative and use what you have around the kitchen.
Ants On A Log are a classic springtime treat to make for the kids. But we’ve all seen it. Try making the celery sticks into something that look like they could fly right off the plate. Fill your celery with Tribe Hummus ($3.79 – 16 oz), and take two Bachman Thin’n Right Pretzels (2/$4 – 9 oz) to place into the hummus. Voila…You’ve got a bug!
Make a Ladybug with half a red apple. Use a dab of Nutella to glue down chocolate chips to create the dots on the body. Or you can use a whole strawberry and push the pointy end of the chocolate chips into the berry. Use a toothpick to secure a blueberry head.
