We’ve been curious about Easter Egg Coloring alternatives and were intrigued by the mere mention of natural egg coloring and what type of results this process might render. Our discovery of a pint of blueberries we forgot about in the vegetable crisper drawer (yes, we’re all guilty of it) provided the push we needed to put our curiosity to the test. We were pleased with our results and you might be too. So if you’re the kind that likes to experiment, don’t look any further than your kitchen. Its stocked with color…
Blue: Blueberries, Red Cabbage, Beets
Brown: Strong cup of coffee
Green: Artichokes, Spinach Leaves
Orange: Carrots
Pink: Cranberries, Raspberries
Red: Strawberries, Red Onion Skins
Yellow: Yellow Onion Skins
Add your food choice of color to a couple cups of water and a couple tablespoons of vinegar and boil for at least 15 minutes. Strain. Submerge your egg until your desired natural intensity is achieved. We saved a Trucchi’s 1 Lb. deli salad container and lid to use for our blueberry eggs bath. It worked perfectly! And we’re pretty proud of our blueberry egg.
