Do you ever find while eating a full course meal, that the flavor of some dishes just linger in your mouth? Sometimes all you can taste is the appetizer you ate earlier, while trying to enjoy your main entree. Although it is not so common in America to do this, refreshing your palates between each course is familiar in many countries. Try using these flavors and special tricks to refresh your taste buds.
Mint
Add fresh mint leaves to a glass of ice water. Or add mint leaves to your ice cube tray and let freeze.
Citrus
The taste of citrus never seems to fail when it comes to rejuvenating your taste buds. A bite of an orange will do just the trick. Or try snacking on a few Kumquats in between your meals.
Lemon
Can you think of anything that’s more refreshing than lemon? The sour taste that makes your mouth pucker is the ideal palate cleanser. Make some freshly squeezed Lemonade, or add lemon slices to your water.
Sorbet, Chocolate or Tea
A lemon or mint sorbet always seems to cleanse your palate of strong flavors after a meal. Some prefer to drink Green Tea or eat pieces of chocolate, such as an after dinner mint.
