Out of the Ordinary…
Make a satisfying light lunch by making a Peach Bowl. Slice a ¢entsational $avings Peach ($1.29 lb – packaged) in half. After it is pitted, fill the “peach bowl” with some pieces of cooked chicken. Use the Perdue Roaster Chicken Breast ($6.99 ea) available in our Deli for a convenient lunch. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar for flavoring and sliced almonds to sprinkle on top. Try filling the peach with different things, or try a different piece of fruit to use as the bowl.
If you love having salad for lunch but find it never quite fills you up, make a Cobb Salad. Use Locally Grown Romaine Lettuce ($1.49 Ea) that’s on sale. Add in boiled egg, sliced ham and Dijon Mustard. Dice up a tomato and whatever else you enjoy to make a satisfying salad.
Tuna Melts are always make a great sandwich to enjoy on your lunch break. Use Geisha Solid White Tuna (.99¢ – 5 oz) and Land O Lakes American Cheese ($2.99 Lb – FRUGAL FRIDAY ONLY). Are your taste buds craving more? Chavrie Plain Goat Cheese ($4.99 – 11 oz log) will definitely give you what you need.
Ever made Pepperoni Chips? Preheat your oven to 400°F and cut a Margherita Pepperoni Stick ($3.39 – 10 oz) into thick slices. Lay out on a cooking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes (or until crispy) and absorb any excess grease with a paper towel. They are AMAZING. Try adding them inside your sandwich or as a salad topping for that extra crunch…or try grilling the pepperoni stick whole. They also make a great appetizer to munch on before dinner. We like to dip them in ranch dressing.
Being creative with your sandwich can take a lot out of you, especially if you’re in a rush. Enjoy a meal that will fill you up, but will give you a break from eating a typical lunch. Toast a Lender’s Bagel ($1.19 ea – 12 oz) and spread your favorite flavor of cream cheese on top. Add freshly cut strawberries or your favorite fruit to go with it.
