It’s always nice to get a bouquet of flowers on Valentine’s Day. But if they just seem to wilt the moment they’re under your care, don’t beat yourself up…we’ve all been there. We have a few tips to help you tend to your flowers this Valentine’s Day so you’re not picking up those crunchy dead petals before you even get to enjoy them.
To avoid your flowers from wilting quickly, make sure they are in a clean vase. That little packet of floral food that came with your flowers is not for you to look at…make sure you empty it into the vase with warm water.
Location is key to keeping your flowers from dying quickly. Display them in a place that is out of the sunlight or heat.
Spray your flowers with a mist of water when you can. Add a small amount of water to your vase daily, and after 3 to 4 days change the water completely and add more floral food.
Before you put your flowers in a vase, make sure that you cut off all the leaves and foliage that will be in the water.
All stems should be cut at an angle. By doing this, the flowers are able to absorb the flower food. It also avoids bacteria that clogs the stem.
How about we do something with those flowers that never stand up straight? Instead of watching in aggravation asĀ those stubborn flowers droop right out of your vase, fixing it may be the better option. The solution is simple. The stem needs to be cut because they are too tall for your vase. If you don’t want to cut the stems any shorter, than use a higher vase. To help you decide what exactly to do, you should go by this rule: your vase should be anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 as tall as your flowers.
