Help Us Help Kids

For more than a decade, Trucchi’s employees and customers have been brightening the holidays for local families through the Help Us Help Kids Toy Drive.  Continuing that tradition, we will feature toy and gift collection bins at the front of each of our five stores through Dec. 24.  This is a convenient way for members of the Trucchi’s family and customers to make a difference in the lives of some local children.

The toys should be new and unwrapped.  Also welcome are new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves.  Sweaters and coats will not be refused.  Try to make your donations early, for as soon as the bins start to fill we start sending toys out for distribution.

Toys are distriubed by the following organizations:

-Citizens for Citizens ( County and Tremont Taunton & West Bridgewater)

-St. Vincent De Paul (Abington)

-Schwartz Rehabilitation Center & State Police Troop D (New Bedford)

In previous years, Trucchi’s employees and customers have been extremely generous.  There are employees at every store who collect toys over a period of time and enjoy bringing in their donations in early (before Thanksgiving even!), hoping to inspire others to give.  Customers are just as eager, for as soon as they spot the bins, donations start pouring in and don’t stop — even after we’ve removed the boxes!

To help publicize the drive, Trucchi’s spreads the message in the more than 160,000 flyers printed each week starting in early December.

Please note that Citizens for Citizens’ Operation Christmas will be held on December 19, and those who participate in parents receive a hat and mittens and a book for each child.  Hundreds of local families each year count on these donations to ensure their children have a little joy in their holiday.  The folks at Trucchi’s hope that in these tough times local residents will once again dig a little deeper to help the area’s most needy.  Citizens for Citizens estimated a 20% increase in families needing assistance over this past year.  They plan to distribute over toys for over 3,000 children on December 19th.
